THE DELEGATION

The delegation will be formed by 228 students with 110 students from overseas, 70 students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan; and 48 students from mainland.

Candidates should be:

(i) ethnic Chinese (paternal or maternal origin),

(ii) full-time undergraduates and postgraduates;　

* Student applicants may apply directly or be nominated by respective universities. (Hong Kong applicants will be recruited through nomination by universities in Hong Kong.)

* Selection will be conducted by a Selection Panel consisting of well-known scholars and professionals.　

As many applicants are expected, the Selection Panel will look for candidates who have:

(i) outstanding scholastic achievements,

(ii) exceptional talents or achievements in non-academic areas (e.g. sports, music, arts or general creativity, etc.),

(iii) leadership qualities as demonstrated in involvement in extra-curricular activities and/or community services, and

(iv) special recommendation.

FEES

The organizers will cover part of the costs including air-fares and ground transportation between Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Xian, Beijing and Shanghai, meals and accommodation as stated in the final itinerary. Selected applicants are required to pay for their own outward and homeward bound transportation to Hong Kong, airport taxes, visa fee, travel and medical insurance plus all out of pocket expenses.

2. Closing date for application is 25 January 2002 (as postmarked).

3. Applications will be considered by the Selection Panel whose decisions are final.

4. Applicants will be informed of the result in late March 2002

5. A deposit of US$100 will be paid by successful applicants as undertaking. The deposit will be refunded upon this / her arrival at Hong Kong. Participants who withdraw from the Programme would have their deposit refunded after completion of the Programme only if the CSP has been notified at least six weeks before commencement of the Programme. There will be no refund for any withdrawal within the final six weeks before the Programme starts.
